Kind-hearted cops give Claire House a facelift

KIND-HEARTED police officers have given Bebington-based children’s hospice Claire House a facelift.

A team of eight officers gave up their days off to re-paint three bedrooms and the ‘teen lounge’ at the centre.

Claire House cares for families from across Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales, West Lancashire and Isle of Man with visitors ranging in age from tiny babies to 23 years old.

It provides respite, end of life and bereavement care to children and young people with complex medical conditions and their families.

Supintendent Paul White said: "I am delighted that our officers have been able to give something back to the community we serve and also hopefully been able to put some more colour into the lives of these youngsters."

And Helen Carlson, Claire House area fundraising manager for Liverpool, also praised the officers for giving the rooms a much-needed revamp.

She said: "What a brilliant bunch of bobbies! It was a privilege to have the team from Merseyside Police at Claire House, and thanks to their efforts, our Teen Wing has a new lease of life.

"The kids are going to love it. We chose a bright lime green colour for the walls, although we did consider canary yellow to match the colour of the Matrix vehicle our police volunteers drive around in.

"We're so grateful when the community offers its support and gets stuck in with projects like this.

"As key members of the community, Merseyside Police are leading by example.

"A massive thanks goes out to Chris Lowe and the team for using their valuable rest days to volunteer at Claire House."
